Why use Jabber?
Because it is a very flexible and extensible system that lets you communicate with virtually any other existing (and not yet existing) instant messaging system. It does not cost you a cent to use and it will not drown you with commercials in your mailbox.

Who created it?
Jeremie Miller, lead developer, started the Jabber project in 1998 bacause he was annoyed with the existing instant messaging (IM) systems like AIM, MSN messenger, YAHOO messenger and ICQ. Now over 600 developers have adhered to Jabber and are constantly improving it to make it become THE instant messaging system.

What is the Hotjabber client?
This is our new client for the jabber system, written by Bjorn Melinder. It is easy to install and use and supports many jabber features, like chat, messaging, groupchats, transports, file transfer and more. New versions appear rapidly - visit hotjabber.com regularly to get information about coming updates. It uses the JabberCOM library written by Peter Millard. Download the latest version of the Hotjabber client.

What is WinJab?
Peter Millard is the developer of this full featured Jabber client that lets you take full advantage of the Jabber instant messaging system.

Is it like ICQ?
Yes and no. It is everything ICQ is and a lot more. All now existing IM systems will become a subset of Jabber so what you get with Jabber is a Super set that lets you communicate with almost everything from a single Jabber client. Clean and smoth.

Is Jabber ready to use?
It is definitely ready to use and all basic funtionality is there and working for you. All messaging systems are not supported yet but will soon be.
